Knowing about a person is different than knowing them personally.
We as Christians often think knowing about God is enough, but the truth is, in order to love God, we must know him in a personal way, immersing ourselves in the study of God and His incredible attributes.
In this series, Dr. Jeremiah introduces you to the God you may not know—to His knowledge, holiness, all-pervasive presence, unlimited power, love, and the other qualities that make Him who He is. Knowing our eternal God changes our daily lives—and He is well worth knowing, for He alone is worthy of all praise!
In a world of superficial relationships and facts masquerading as knowledge, it's easy to treat God as a commodity. We learn certain bits of information about Him and call it "knowing God." But we can only worship someone we love and we can only love someone we truly know. Covers selected Scriptures.
There's probably no one who hasn't used the word holy as part of a slang expression in conversation (what does "holy cow" mean, anyway?). The next time you catch yourself saying "holy [whatever]," remember there is One who truly is holy, set apart from all that is not. Covers selected Scriptures.
Every marriage vow that is not kept, every promise that is not fulfilled, every debt that is not paid, and every promised prayer that is not prayed… all touch on the issue of faithfulness. If there is anything humans are, it is unfaithful. And if there is anything God is, thankfully, it is faithful. Covers Lamentations 3:22-23 and other selected Scriptures.
Though our lives may change, God never will. And if we remain anchored to Him, we will remain secure. In this message, Dr. Jeremiah talks about how God's promises, purposes, provisions, personality, and prophecies cannot be changed. Covers selected Scriptures.
In world terms, we are often reminded that "absolute power corrupts absolutely." That is, when humans acquire power, they often abuse it. That may be true with man, but not with God. He alone has absolute power and only uses it in a manner consistent with His righteous character. Covers Revelation 19:6 and other selected Scriptures.
Christians are committed to keeping the way of salvation focused on faith, not being good or bad--and rightly so. But goodness is good! The greatest example we have of how to be good is God Himself. Like all His attributes, goodness is an essential part of His character. Covers Psalm 52:1 and other selected Scriptures.
Beginning in the Garden of Eden, God made it clear that He knows everything about those created in His image. This can be a comfort--He knows and understands our pain--and a cause for concern--He knows all our sins. Our greatest challenge is to live in the light of His omniscience. Covers Psalm 52:1 and other selected Scriptures.
If you were to walk into a public high school today and see armed policeman patrolling the halls, you would ask, "What happened to the school authorities?" One place you won't find armed guards is in the halls of the universe. God has been, and remains, firmly in control of our world. Covers Daniel 4:35 and other selected Scriptures.
The age we live in has made it possible for us to extend our influence around the world: phone calls, email, video conferencing, and, one day, holograms. But that's not the same as God's omnipresence. Only He can give all of Himself to an infinite number of situations simultaneously. Covers selected Scriptures.
No word in our "feel good" culture is bandied about with as little precision as love. We love fast cars, night baseball, and apple pie. But we would likely not die for any of them. Yet that is the quality and character of the love of God: a love that is selfless and sacrificial.
