Thus far in Romans, we have learned that salvation is by faith alone, through grace, and apart from any human works. Now Paul goes into greater detail concerning the nature of Abraham’s justification by faith, in order to make clear the inadequacy of works in contrast to the complete adequacy of the plan God has instituted.
