While many of us celebrate the joy of the coming of Jesus with our loved ones, there are plenty of others for whom this season is something to endure and get through—perhaps because they are alone, or they have just lost someone close to them. For those of us in that latter category, it is hard to imagine Christmas being anything but a season of sorrow and hurt. But the Christmas story is a message of hope and encouragement; it is for people who are suffering in terrible loneliness and anguish. This is because Christ came into the world specifically to take away the loneliness and hurt and pain and separation. This truth is evidenced in the story of Anna. Covers Luke 2:36-38.
