Tertullian, an early church father, said that, “The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.” Stephen was the first Christian to follow in the steps of Jesus as a martyr for the faith. As with Jesus, Stephen was persecuted because of his character and commitment to the truth. Acts: 6:8-15
